A life saving twist for Oliver

Thank you for your interest! Please help me raise funds for my dear sister and brother-in-law, Victoria and Zack Rasberry. Two of their six children, Oliver 'Ollie' (2 months old) and Addi (5 years old), have been diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD), a highly progressive and rare genetic brain disease, which is fatal.
However, since little Ollie is so young & still asymptomatic, we have an incredible chance to save his life, if we act quickly. He has been accepted into a gene therapy treatment program at one of the world’s best hospitals in Milan. This program will require Ollie to be hospitalized on and off for 5 months, so the Raspberry family needs money for he and his mother to cover travel, lodging and medical bills - which will be around $500,000. The treatment is very involved and requires multiple hospital visits, a surgery for his central line, chemotherapy, an MRI, nerve conductivity test, all the evaluations and follow up visits.
The thought of my sister leaving the rest of her family for 5 months is devastating, but it is the BEST hope she has for Ollie. Her daughter’s diagnosis came too late, so the disease has progressed too far for any treatments to help. Addi has already lost the ability to walk, stand, sit, move, eat, speak, and has lost head and neck control. She struggles frequently with respiratory distress, often being hospitalized for respiratory failure. My sister wants to give her son this amazing treatment opportunity that her daughter tragically never had.
It is a mother’s worst nightmare for her child to be diagnosed with a fatal disease. And the thought of losing TWO children to the same fatal disease is just unbearable. Please donate any amount you can, to help lessen this family’s loss.
Ollie is a sweet happy baby and has all the makings of a fighter like his sister. This would be the best gift we could give this child who deserves the best possible chance at life. Follow Ollie's story on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/amiracleforollie. Please share their story with any friends, loved ones, co-workers, and employers who might be interested in helping a family save their son’s life. Sharing this fundraising link via your favorite social media channels is a great way to get the word out.
To learn more about gene therapy and MLD go to CureMLD , MLD Foundation or watch this piece from CBS Sunday Morning New Promise for Gene Therapy. If you have any further questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact us for additional information.
I, personally, as well as this special family are so deeply appreciative and in your debt for any contribution you may be able to make, as well as sharing as much as possible and, of course, your thoughts and prayers! Even a small amount chips away at that mountain and together we can demolish it!
