JERRY LIVINGSTON'S MEDICAL EXPENSE FUND

In late 2020, one of Western New York's greatest musicians, Jerry Livingston, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Since then, our dear friend has faced numerous rounds of chemotherapy as he courageously fights back against this horrible disease. Due to his illness, Jerry has been unable to work and the extreme medical bills have begun to mount. Jerry has surgery and more chemotherapy to come. We are asking for your help today to ease the extreme financial stress on Jerry and his family so that they can concentrate on his continued brave battle against cancer.


For those that don't know, Jerry Livingston is a living legend in his hometown of Buffalo, NY. His virtuosic bass playing is known the world-over, most notably for his work with funk legend Rick James. Jerry has played and recorded with hundreds of artists over the years, including Miki Howard, Val Young, Johnny Gill, Stacie Lattisaw, Stephanie Mills, Bobby Womack, The Mary Jane Girls, Process and the Doo Rags, Cissy Houston, Liberty Silver, Joe Sample, Bobby Rydell, Fabian, and many, many more.


Here at GCR Audio Recording Studios, we are lucky enough to work with professional musicians from all over the world on a daily basis. With that being said, there is no one quite like Jerry. His bass playing talents are world-class. He is one of the most liked and respected musicians in the area. He is THE consummate professional and any day that he steps foot in our building is a day made better by his presence.


In addition to his impressive bass playing credentials, Jerry is a music educator, having taught as a private instructor, a Buffalo Public School music teacher, and most recently as an adjunct professor at Villa Maria College. Many of the most talented and successful bassists in Buffalo or from Buffalo have had Jerry Livingston as a teacher at some point during their musical journeys. Jerry has set an example for generations to come through his dedication and willingness to share his knowledge. At GCR Audio, we get to see the very fruitful tree of professional musicians that Jerry has shaped, all of whom continue his legacy each and every day.


Jerry is also a devout man of faith, and an active member of the WNY church community. Over the years, he has lent his musical talents to many churches in the Buffalo area, including Deliverance Temple C.O.G.I.C., Antioch FBH Church, Prince of Peace Temple C.O.G.I.C., New Mt. Ararat Temple of Prayer, and most recently, Bethel AME Church. Jerry's love of God is matched only by his love of family. He is the ultimate family-man, dedicated and devoted to his lovely wife, Diane, their children, and their extended family.


Moreover, though, Jerry is a mentor, a friend, and a brother to everyone lucky enough to know him.

Modest. Kind. Selfless. Caring. Supportive. Talented. Loving. Gentle. Generous.

These are just some of the words that are used to describe Jerry Livingston. He has a huge heart, and a peaceful soul. He has the unique ability to bring comfort, warmth, and a smile to the people around him, just by being around. Put simply, Jerry is the nicest guy you will ever meet.


Despite his many musical credentials (including being a member of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, as well as winning countless music and community awards), Jerry is a humble man. Perhaps the humblest. He never asks for anything from anyone. But right now, Jerry needs our help, so we are asking for him.
