What is the Vash Green Schools Project?
Vash Green Schools is a grassroots project to provide renewable energy in rural schools through solar energy and eco friendly institutional stoves.
What is the aim?
Most rural schools in Uganda don't have electricity or any other source of reliable power. The Vash Green Schools Project aims to raise 300,000 USD to fund the installation of solar panels and cookstoves in 100 schools across Uganda, bringing electricity to schools from renewable sources and impacting the lives of communities for the better.
What has the project achieved so far?
The project has already given hope to many schools, schoolchildren and parents who believe in improving their children’s education. So far, we’ve carried out installations in more than 25 schools.
The installation of solar systems has increased school enrolment as students now have better access to light for their education and don’t have to use kerosene lamps or candles to study and read.
The eco-friendly cookstoves are beneficial for cooks who are mostly women, students and the planet. They prevent indoor air pollution and cut the carbon emissions as a result of inefficient cooking technologies. The stoves play a role in reducing school firewood consumption – in turn protecting trees and reducing school operating costs.
How will my donation help?
Each school installation costs $3,000 so whether you are able to donate $3, $30, $300 or even $3000, every contribution helps to improve the lives and education of communities in Uganda.
Why is this important?
The Vash Green Schools Project provides a valuable learning opportunity for students, teachers, parents and the entire community, it teaches concepts like renewable energy, energy efficiency, climate justice, and how everyone has a role in protecting the planet.
If we are united and work together, we will be able to transform this world and make it a better place.
Please donate today to help us change lives.
Thank you,
Vanessa
