‘Rae of Sunshine!

Hello, my name is Melissa and I am raising funds for Ja’Rae Garris and her mother Sha’Rae Clay. On Saturday June 17th, 2023, Ja’Rae was admitted to Children’s Hospital in Dayton because she was suddenly unable to move the left side of her body. Since June 17th Ja’Rae has gone through extensive testing to try to figure out the cause, and after being transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, they have determined that she has had a stroke/spinal cord injury. Ja’Rae will need to stay in Cincinnati for at least another month for intensive inpatient rehabilitation, and continued treatment with home health care when she is finally able to come home.

Ja’Rae is a sophomore at Stivers School for the Arts, and instead of spending her summer learning how to drive, finding a job, or hanging out with her friends, she is limited to her hospital bed with a neck brace. Even in her condition she continues to sing, be optimistic, and spread her positivity to all.

Sha’Rae has not left her daughter’s side since she was admitted. This has been extremely difficult for the family and has put them in financial hardship. She will need to take at least another month off of work, and when they return home, she will need help with getting the right medical equipment (bed, wheelchair, supplies, etc.). Any donation would be sincerely appreciated and will be used to help the family pay bills and get equipment/ supplies needed to continue care for Ja’Rae at home in Dayton.
