The tragedy of war: A destroyed house and a displaced family

The war on Gaza brought destruction, pain, fear and displacement. What is more difficult than seeing our homes turned into rubble because of a missile? The house that gave us security and comfort was destroyed in an instant and now we only live miserable dreams, destruction and displacement.

Before the war, my life was me: Yasser Abu Taqia A simple story. We lived with peace of mind, reassurance and tranquility as I worked in different professions. To build my future, I got married and moved from one house to another until I was finally able to provide a house and started furnishing it. But the devastating war on Gaza came and destroyed everything, my home, my furniture, and all my dreams in life. We now live in a tent that does not protect us from the heat of summer or the cold of winter.

My wife Samah lived the worst days of the war. She is nine months pregnant and will give birth by caesarean section. She will give birth soon. I cannot provide for her special needs, nor a safe place to shelter her and her children, nor a good home that brings us together, as the tent is not qualified for the safety of a newborn woman, her small fetus and her children as we approach this winter.

My first child, my ambitious daughter Rimas, is an outstanding student and has many talents such as reading, beautiful writing, and making accessories from beads. She loves home and is calm, but the war and displacement have exhausted her a lot. There is no home, no security, and no education to prove herself. She used to dream of becoming a doctor.

My son Karam, a child full of energy and love for life, was deprived of his right to education, play, and live in safety. There is no home to shelter us, but a tent that does not protect us from the summer or the cold of winter

My son Tariq has been suffering from a hole in his heart and a narrowing of the pulmonary artery since birth, which causes him to suffer from seizures, epilepsy, shortness of breath, and difficulty treating him during the war due to the scarcity of medicines and medical capabilities in Gaza.
