VTA Hero Taptejdeep Singh Fund
Shaheed Taptejdeep Singh gave his life on May 26th 2021 trying to keep his colleagues safe during the VTA mass shooting in San Jose.
Taptejdeep was a 36 year old beloved father, husband, and son. He was a wonderful person who was committed to serving others at work and in his free time. Taptejdeep was living by the values of a true Sikh: living in service and protection of others.
Taptejdeep was the primary bread earner for his family and is survived by a grieving family, including his wife, children (a three-year-old son and one-year-old daughter), and his older parents.
This fund is started by Taptejdeep Singh's family. The funds will go directly Taptejdeep Singh's dependents account.
From the loved ones and community --
“Taptejdeep Singh was one of the victims of the horrific mass shooting at a VTA light rail yard in San Jose, CA on May 26th, 2021. He is survived by his wife and two small children. This is an unspeakable loss for Taptejdeep Singh’s family, friends, coworkers, and the Sikh community at large.
Taptejdeep’s hard work, radiance, and selflessness will not leave in vain. In addition to working as a VTA light rail operator on weekdays, Taptejdeep worked as a Nurse at the start of his career, had an insurance license, and was a real estate agent. His cousin remembers him as a gregarious man - the nicest person in their family.
Taptejdeep Singh was also responsible for saving lives during the mass shooting, and was murdered while he ushered his coworkers to safety. He died as he committed himself to seva. He died a hero.
We recognize that this mass shooting is a tragedy that has reverberated among communities across the world. Therefore, as we appreciate how community members want to help and support, we have established this fund to aid the Singh Family in any unforeseen expenses Taptejdeep Singh’s passing brings, to support Taptejdeep’s children in their futures and educational endeavors, and to hopefully alleviate some of the family’s extraneous stressors.
Taptejdeep Singh’s family is the sole beneficiary of this campaign, and every penny received will go to his wife and children to recover from this trauma and ensure security for their future.”
