Jeremy Barnes Memorial Squash Fund

The Jeremy Barnes Memorial squash fund supports students and junior squash players in need of financial assistance to learn and participate in the sport of squash. The fund was started last year in memory of the infectious joy and kind heart of Jeremy Barnes.
Last year, we raised $35,000. Some events we were able to organize with the money:
- Sponsored a group of Walt Whitman High School squash players to visit Drexel University to meet and play with members of the Drexel Squash team, which was Jeremy’s former team. Hosted by the Arlen Specter Squash Center, meetings with coaches Jack Wyant and John White left the Whitman team inspired and motivated squash students! A perfect day with lunch at the Landmark.
- Connie and Jim Masland took students from 3 varsity squash programs in the DC area (Whitman, Wakefield and BCC) to Philadelphia for the day.
- Intercollegiate Oct 21 SE Invitational held at Charlotte squash club. Sponsored lunch, drinks and food for the 30 players.
- NC State: provided T-shirts for this emerging team. Their attendance at the SE Invitational and a terrific presentation by Captain Saurav Jain saw the team adopted as a club sport. Congratulations!
- 18 CitiySquash, New York's urban youth program students and staff stayed at the Barnes residence in Potomac May 2022 - the JB fund sponsored lunch and dinner for the participants.
This year we hope to continue offering helpful and inspiring opportunities for junior squash players!
