Dean VS Lymphoma Round 2

Donation protected

Hello! My name is Dean, I'm 29 years young and have a family which includes my wife Stephanie of almost 12 years who is a home-maker and stole my heart with her cooking skills, My three children Kaylee - 15 who is following closely behind her mother and is very creative, LeeAnna - 11 who is extremely bright and has been an A-B honor roll since Kindergarten , Giovanni - 3 who is extra kind, he is Autistic and has an innocence about him that his mother and I admire.
One day in August of 2014 I was noticing a lump in my arm pit while taking a shower, I told my wife about it and she felt it thinking it was a calcium deposit and so I went on thinking I was being paranoid. Two weeks later I went home (worked out of state for 2 weeks at a time) after my work hitch and when I had my wife feel it again she said it had quadrupled in size and that we should goto the E.R. because by this time it was starting to hurt. They did an ultrasound and asked why I had waited this long to come in. I was referred the next day to see a oncology surgeon, and scheduled two days later for a biopsy, PET scan, and a bone marrow biopsy with aspiration. I had started seeing Dr Harwin and a week later pathology confirmed that it was Non Hodgkins Diffused Large B Cell Lymphoma stage 4, and a negative bone marrow. I had 2 large masses on my spleen, 1 large mass on my left axillary, and 2 spots on my spine. I had just entered the twilight zone, I hear cancer and immediately think of it as a death sentence. I did some research and got educated which made me feel better when I learned that Lymphoma is usually cured, this gave me hope. A few days later I had my port surgically put in and started the first round of R-CHOP the first week of September.
January came and I had completed 5 cycles of R-CHOP and got scheduled for my first PET scan since my diagnosis which still showed cancer in all the same spots but shrunk. Dr Harwin then referred me to the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa just 3 hours north of where we live to Dr Sokol, he mentioned that if the cancer did not go away that the next step would be a stem cell transplant, and because my marrow was negative I qualified for an autologous transplant, I never thought for a minute that I would end up needing that! So I had finished the last round of R-CHOP and got another PET scan which showed still cancer in all places so they biopsied the most accessible mass (axillary aka arm-pit) and that came back negative which meant NHDLBCL didn't show up in that biopsy. Both Dr Sokol and Dr Harwin agreed that even though I had "residual cancer" left that I was clinically in remission, but also suggested I get spinal chemo because of the spots on my spine. After being put in remission I happily went back to work while getting spinal chemo on my days off (that was rough) as we were falling severely behind on all of the bills.
March came around and I started getting pain in my left shoulder and really bad pain in my left groin area, my wife of course in denial, passing it off as injury from work, which wouldn't be too out of the ordinary. Well the pain grew worse and by May 5th 2015 it was time for my 3 month PET scan, I went in knowing that it wasn't gonna be good because this pain is progressively getting worse. May 8th I get the bad news....my cancer is "back" in my spine and my spleen, which I don't know that it was ever gone because I never had a "clean" PET scan since I was diagnosed, and that the spleen was pushing down on my organs which caused my groin pain. My wife was broken and definitely not expecting this news, I'm upset because I now know that a stem cell transplant is in my near future and I'm scared, my first thing I think of is "how will my kids take this? Will I be alive to see them marry? Who will take care of them if I die?"
I started my first round of R.I.C.E. on May 26th and will have another R.I.C.E. treatment on June 15th. I will be driving back and forth for appointments in Tampa and then will be admitted into Moffitt in Tampa July 16th and will stay til the 2nd week of August. Before I get my stem cell transplant I will need to get a dental clearance and have my lungs, heart, and overall health cleared before going further. Once I'm clear, I will get a series of Neupogen shots which will force my bone marrow to speed up the production and force stem cells out into the blood stream where they can be harvested. I will also need another (central) line placed for the procedure. Once stem cells are collected I will get a week of B.E.A.M. chemo therapy and the best way they can describe it is to bring my body close to death to kill everything in my body, once that's done they will start replacing my stem cells so that my body can start coming back to life. I will need to get all of my baby vaccines again and stay out of general population for months following and on a special diet to keep me alive. I will not be allowed to be around certain plants and things since my immune system will be completely depleted. I believe God has done this for a reason of one I'm not yet sure of, but I hope to be able to be a walking testimony one day. I say this because I am putting my faith in God that he brought us here for a reason and which he will not abandon us. Even though I've been sick with this disease he has not strayed one time, I've seen his blessings and have felt his comfort. I am reaching out (humiliated a bit) to ask for your help, even the least amount of donations will help me not have to worry about how I'm going to continue to my daily Dr appointments which are 20+ miles away, and when I'm traveling to Moffitt 100+ miles away. It will help pay for my bills which have been already stressed from the last bout with cancer, I hoped to move into something more affordable so that my wife could work and afford the bills, she is a care taker already to my 3 year old son and now has been taking care of me as well, so we may have to wait until my transplant is over since this is already alot of stress on the kids and a move would definitely add stress to every member of the house. We also have 5 fur babies who we really hope and pray to keep as family members, we do not want to be forced to re-home them, so any donations of food or money to help us feed them would make us all forever grateful, Moose a great dane, Phoebe a lhasa apso, Jinksy a Maine coon kitty, Snoopy a domestic blk n wht short hair, and Mr Chubz a prarie dog. I will tell you what help we receive already, we do get state issued food stamps, and Medicaid for all of us. We have applied for disability and have not had an interview yet and we're told even when/IF we get accepted for it, we have to wait 5 months before receiving any financial help. I would love for any recommendations for any foundations that may be of help as we've only found one which was Lymphoma Research Foundation which we applied for a $100 grant (pending). Also my family and I would be forever grateful for any donations or any offers of jobs that we could do from home would be the most ideal for me since we both temporarily can not work. You can reach me at [email redacted] for any suggestions and also I LOVE and appreciate all encouraging messages, and bible verses that you would like to share with us. I thank you for reading my story and ask for prayers most of all, I feel like there's nothing more special than someone taking time out of their day to pray for someone. Take a moment to tell someone you love them because you never know if your time may be cut short. Thank you again!
