3 Peaks Challenge for Andi
As some of you know, on Friday 19th June Simon and I are going to begin our attempt to walk the three highest mountains in the UK within 24 hours (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon). We are fundraising in memory of my childhood friend Andi White, who passed away last November not long after turning 40. Andi fought a short but incredibly brave battle against an aggressive form of bone cancer with which she had been diagnosed only a few months earlier.
Due to the nature of her illness Andi spent her last couple of months in a hospice near her home in Kent. This was, understandably, an incredibly distressing time for all but Andi's friends and family rallied around to give Andi access to opportunities and experiences that the hospice was simply not in a position to provide. These experiences helped enrich the precious time Andi had remaining in the hospice but also provided special memories for her friends and loved ones. Andi's sister Elisa is looking to set up a charity in Andi's name, where, as part of their end of life care, other hospice inpatients will be able to access funds to enable them to benefit in the same way as Andi and her loved ones.
We would be so grateful if you could donate whatever you can towards this charity which is so dear to our hearts. Andi spent her life giving to others and we want to continue to give back on her behalf, and in her memory. We know that Andi would have approved of our challenge, being the outdoorsy type that she was, and hopefully we will do her proud!
