Carson Strong!
It is a remarkable ask for a remarkable young man. We are determined to see it through.
Life can change in an instant. On May 24th, as many of you know, Carson sustained a major traumatic brain injury and survived! He is working incredibly hard on his recovery. The thoughts and prayers sent near and far have been felt by Carson and the family over these last 4 months and are greatly appreciated. We believe we are witnessing a miracle.
Carson has made remarkable progress so far. Those first three weeks in the ICU at St. Charles in Bend and now at Craig Hospital https://craighospital.org/ in Denver have been challenging for Carson as he battles back from this injury. Your prayers, well wishes, letters, photos, texts, etc. from Bend to Chicago to Coronado (and beyond) are a source of strength for Carson and his family!
Carson’s rehabilitation will take several forms over the next weeks, months and perhaps longer but he is definitely making progress relative to those difficult first few days. He is starting to walk again, talking, smiling and showing the world his great sense of humor which he is known for. He has an incredible attitude and desire to get stronger.
There is more work to be done in intensive therapy. Doctors, nurses, physical therapists, his family, and friends are all working with Carson every day to see this happen! Unfortunately, the length of time and the cost associated with his recovery are still unknown. What we do know is that we are determined to see it through.
For all of us who play a part in his recovery including canines, “CARSON STRONG” is our motto. We encourage everyone to convey this motto through acts of kindness and by taking pictures/selfies with the “CARSON STRONG” message wherever you are in the world and in whatever form, and then post the photos to this website (https://www.facebook.com/Carson-Hollenbeck-Strong-123266302397843/?view_public_for=123266302397843). Carson will see the posts and know that you are actively thinking about him.
We are setting up this fund to help Carson with his short- and long-term recovery and we hope you will support him with a donation today. 97% of all funds will be used for Carson’s recovery including a therapy dog, outpatient, and transitional care. We welcome your prayers, your positive energy, and love for Carson. Please forward this donation link to everyone in your network that can provide support to help this young man to continue to gain his strength and move forward with his life. On behalf of Carson and his family, thank you.
