long story short:

☆ [redacted] immigration laws are silly, efficiently crippling, and remain difficult to understand by anyone outside this lived experience.

☆ i'm unable to return home, or make home. the loop of catch-up is layered, endless: two years of lockdowns knocked attempts at building community and adapting to a whole new field—& see, escaping Nigeria's euro-imperialism to US imperialism was just me jumping from fire to fire.

this empire got serious hands! woooo, omooo!

last year, i was talking to someone who made me realize for the first time that i am basically doing what their parents being a first-gen immigrant did,

& me internally: **yuck, tears, wow, so much better when i didn’t know that, now i feel like punching you**

parent, in this economy ?! i don’t want to be a first-gen anything.

☆ i am not well and couldn't possibly be surviving three brief but intense psychotic episodes, two of which i almost died from. institutional neglect, intense isolation, housing instability & long stretches of poverty severely impacted my ability to care for essential things crucial to my wellbeing.

coupled with a number of private grieves, these non-stop blows without breaks all add up & of course i break down.

many hustle(s) have been hustled & i’m still trying my darndest, but my best can never be enough.
