Support Oliver's Battle Against FIP

Donation protected
This is my silly orange 1 year old boy Oliver! Oliver was found through a Trap, Neuter, and Release program in Fresno, CA where him and his siblings were taken in by another mama cat who recently had her own litter. I had just moved away from home for the first time and was looking for a furry companion to grow along this journey with me. I fell in love with Oliver's bright amber eyes and sweet personality instantly when I brought him home. When he's not taking an afternoon nap, Oliver LOVES chasing spring toys and chewing on string (including my laptop charger before an important exam once!). He has the loudest purrs and loves making biscuits before curling up to sleep as close to me as possible every night. He loves sitting on top of his tree and getting pats on his back while he works hard making biscuits.

Over the course of a week, my silly high energy purring orange boy lost a significant amount of weight and was eating less and less. Midday zoomies turned to long hours of sleeping and staying in bed which was extremely strange for him. When the vet called with the results of his blood work, it was suspected to be Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). FIP is an extremely aggressive disease that can spread throughout the body and is a near-guaranteed death without proper treatment. Oliver likely has the dry form of FIP with neurological and ocular symptoms. His current symptoms have been progressively worsening. His neurological symptoms include wobbling, imbalance, loss of vision, and has experienced a seizure. Alongside these symptoms, he also is severely anemic and possibly may need a blood transfusion if his health continues to decline. He also seems to be not grooming himself, is lethargic, and has lost much weight. He is no longer able to do any of his favorite things like play with his toys or run around because of his symptoms getting worse and worse.

He is deteriorating quickly, however, the only known cure for his condition is an experimental drug known as GS-441524. It is not currently approved for use within the US by the FDA, but it is utilized in other countries. It reportedly has an incredibly high success rate, with improvements made within a few days of administration. I am currently working with FIP warriors towards getting the medication needed for Oliver's treatment.

The treatment is costly and long-term, with an estimated cost of over $1,000 and potentially reaching over $2,000 for more expensive brands. It’s incredibly crucial to start the treatment process immediately, mainly due to the severity of his decline. The amount of medicine per vial is small yet highly expensive and requires daily administration for 84 days. Each vial would last an estimated 2-3 days. He will also require blood work at least every four weeks for monitoring, and then after his 84 days of treatment is up, he must be observed for another 84 days.

This all totals up fast. In addition to the treatment, costs for any supplies he may need along with additional emergency vet bills and supportive medications add to an already large sum of costs. Any donation will help me afford his medication throughout his treatment and alleviate the financial stress in addition to worrying about my baby boy. Venmo @jennifurrhuynh

Please help me get my silly orange boy back and save his life. I would greatly appreciate any donations and/or shares. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about Oli's story!!
