As some of you may know, but many of my friends and very few family do not know, in April I went in for what I thought was a normal routine ultrasound on my thyroid as recommended every six months. Something on my ultrasound sparked attention to my doctor and ordered a fine needle aspirate. Well, unfortunately, the ultrasound showed thyroid cancer. I saw the specialist last Friday, May 27th, and he is requiring urgent surgery next Wednesday, June 8th. At 26, this isn’t something I wanted to hear or ever be diagnosed with. I spoke with the financial department and this surgery will cost $5000. Unfortunately, I don’t have the funds to cover as they are wanting them upfront the day of surgery. I do not typically want to ask for things like this, but I do not know what else to do. Anything helps and will be greatly appreciated. I want to thank everyone in advance as I progress through this next chapter of my life and the changes that will come with it.
