Help Leslie Fight Cancer

Leslie Hugh Williams is a gentle giant who has cooked in the outer cape and supported our community through food and service for over 20 years. An immigrant of Jamaica, Leslie has worked in many of the great kitchens of Cape Cod and is known far and wide by his coworkers and customers as a great cook and a kind-hearted person. Enzo, Local 186, Spindler’s and Salty Market to name just a few- Leslie is of the first generation of Jamaican workers that helped make Truro and Provincetown what they are today. He is an essential member of his family and helps to support his wife and three kids who live here on Cape Cod.

On October 21, Leslie went into the doctors with a bad cough, and they diagnosed him with stage IV lung cancer. He has had a pump put in his lungs and is currently exploring ways to get the treatment he needs. Unfortunately, Leslie is underinsured and like many Americans- does not easily get the medical care he deserves. His current insurance doesn't cover many of the critical items needed for his care including bottles for the pump on his lungs, rehab, a nurse to visit him at his home, and even some of the tests needed to further diagnose his cancer. Luckily, Outer- Cape Health and a network of Leslie’s’ allies believe we can do better and are working together to support Leslie to #stand up to cancer.

Leslie's inability to work during this time is a huge strain on his family and we are looking to take away some of his economic pressures so that he can focus on healing. His friends at Salty Market and beyond are hoping that our larger Outer Cape family will rally together in support of our own and donate to Leslie. We ask for your help in any form you can, in whatever amount you can to honor Leslie for his hard work in our community bringing joy to so many people.
