This Saturday started off as a celebration of my husband’s birthday. The night ended in a terrible tragedy where he ended up falling off a small cliff. He has suffered a coma, skull fractures, facial fractures, and more. He’s awake now and surprising us all by recognizing us, fluttering his eyes, and gripping our hands to let us know he’s being strong and fighting this. Today, the day of his birthday, he made the biggest step of all, breathe on his own.
Buddy has a long journey to recovery.
I have been asked multiple times what people can do for me and my family. Right now, all I can say is help me take the second biggest stressor out of my life: finances. Charles has had one surgery so far but we are expecting another. The doctor has already made it clear that due to the brain injuries to expect a long road to recovery.
