Jennifer's battle against breast cancer

Hi, my name is Anna and I've organized this fundraiser for my friend Jennifer, who I've known since middle school. Our friendship began in our preteen years, grew as teenagers as we conquered high school, and then blossomed after graduation in those next few years of young adulthood as we were just beginning to find our places in this world. Over the last 22 years, our friendship has been solid regardless of being separated by the distance or time that passes in between our connections. Sometimes there are longer periods of time due to family and work obligations, but we always just catch up and pick back up right where we left off. We have consistently supported each other through the ups and downs that we have faced in our adult lives.

Today I am asking you to help me to support my friend Jenny.

After just turning 40 this last summer, Jennifer is suddenly facing a huge life hurdle as she was recently diagnosed with Triple-negative breast cancer (a type that is very aggressive and difficult to treat). Her treatment plan is only in the beginning stages but has already caused a financial burden as she is unable to work. I'm helping to raise financial support on her behalf as she fights this battle. Right now, Jenny needs to be able to focus on getting to her weekly chemotherapy appointments (and dealing with the occasionally brutal aftermath of systemic side effects that go along with it) and then resting and healing. There is enough uncertainty with all of this that she should not also have to be burdened with financial concerns.

If you are able to help, your donation to this fundraiser will assist Jennifer in covering her regular monthly bills and additional medical expenses. Unfortunately, it was essential for her to immediately take a leave of absence from her selfless career in public service as a 911 Dispatcher following her diagnosis. She does have a short-term disability plan, but it only makes a dent in the overall big picture. The financial goal is based on what she will need to cover her basic financial needs for approximately a year.

Her current treatment plan includes 5 months of chemotherapy (she just completed the first month), followed by a recovery month, then surgery (type to be determined), another month or so of recovery, then radiation... and then several more weeks of recovery. It's going to be a long road.
