Hi my name is John Moder and I gave up everything to start a nonprofit that is going to change the way we heal our veterans. I went to Iraq in 2011-2012 and although I did not sustain any major injuries I came back a different person. I was irritable, angry, and felt hopeless. I turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with this "new me" but nothing was working. It was only after months of my fiance' harping on me to try yoga that I found relief. That was just the tip of the iceberg! Over the past year I have found many other wellness related treatments that have helped me and my family begin to heal. I am not the only veteran in my family so I knew what was in store for me if I didn't take care of myself. I am not quite there yet, but that is the point of wellness isn't it? I have designed and outlined a nonprofit model that focusses on community involvement and local wellness activity providers ie yoga, rock climbing, reiki, massage therapy, (just to name a few) working together to provide free/discounted access to veterans and their families. What about the existing programs and nonprofits with similar goals. I am going to unite them all in the spirit of cooperation to stand as a united front in the pursuit of wellness. So what do I need from you? Well like I said I am risking it all and at this point I am asking for your help to become a nonprofit and be the face of change for our nations veterans. I have done my research and I know that the VA, and the rest of the country, are moving towards a solution focussed,preventative approach to health and wellness but are years from establishing a workable system. I would greatly appreciate if you could pass this message on to the appropriate person and have them contact me immediately or donate to the cause.
