Our family relocated from Alaska to Oregon in October 2022 to start a new life, Somewhere closer to one of the best hemophilia treatment centers in America for Bobbys severe hemophilia, somewhere with a warmer climate to help minimize my tremors due to having Parkinson’s, and somewhere Robert could put his BA in Business to work in a better job. Unfortunately just before our move Robert found his mother passed away in her home (this was both heartbreaking and we were responsible for her final expenses), then our landlord in Alaska falsely claimed our rental wasn’t cleaned (even though we hired a professional cleaning company to clean it) so they could keep our security deposit (even after doing a final walk through of our rental with us and signing off on it), and then Robert had some issues with the Alaska Child Support Division repaying him for money they had promised to him which was on hold from him making payments while the courts worked out that he had full custody of his children. This created a burden because Robert and I had already traveled to Oregon in September and found a place to rent for our family. We put down first, last, deposit, and furnished the rental then we flew back to Alaska. We still needed to pay for shipping our car down, shipping our belongings, and 4 airplane tickets for our family. In our budget, after these expenses, we had planned on having a nest egg left over to help us cover any unexpected expenses when we arrived in Oregon, But instead we ended up with almost no savings or nest egg when we arrived due to all the lost funds which we were counting on. Next we learned that the marketing director job which Robert was interviewed and hired for via zoom was completely misrepresented and was in fact only a commission based job selling cell phones in a Fred Meyer while competing with multiple other employees of the same company, then a short time into Robert working for them the company quickly pulled out of the town we live in and moved north to the Portland metro area. This was a large set back, as Robert could not travel for work and commission based jobs are not the way Robert is used to supporting his family. It then took nearly a month for Robert to find a different job, the time without a job had depleted the minuscule savings we had, maxed out our credit cards and made it tough to survive. Once Robert found a new job we faced a lot of challenges, playing catch up, paying bills, feeding our family, and paying rent. Already being in a hole, we were struggling to get by on just Robert’s income for months, so this forced me to have to go back to work in May 2023 to help out with catching up, this was not something we wanted or planned to do because of my Parkinson’s. Fast forward to June 2023, while still playing catch up and just trying to survive, I started having a severe gum infection and pain near a tooth I previously had a root canal done on causing me to miss multiple days of work, then our precious 16yo cat Sassy passed away on June 26th, I had bottle fed her as a kitten, she was not a cat she was one of our children, and she was Tik Tok famous for being so cute. Then on June 28th, Robert’s birthday, his right ankle and toes were swollen and he could not put any weight on it so he rested in bed all day and kept his feet elevated, but unfortunately the next morning of June 29th the swelling had not gone down and in-fact it had actually gotten worse and started turning red with cellulitis going up the front of his leg to his shin, so he finally went into the Emergency Room and had it looked at. 12hrs later after having XRays, Blood Cultures and labs, doctors looking at it, and an MRI, they found out that he had a blister on the bottom of his foot from walking so much at work which had become infected and caused an abscess inside his foot causing two of his toes to become dislocated and fractured, hence the pain and swelling. The infection had made it into his blood causing him to have sepsis. The doctors told him he was going to be admitted to the hospital and given antibiotics and he was scheduled to have surgery the next day to open the wound/foot to clean it out and possibly fix his two toes. The next morning on June 30th Robert learned that his surgery had been moved up from 4pm to 11:20am. He was excited as it meant he would have to fast for a shorter amount of time then expected, as he had been fasting since midnight. Unfortunately his excitement was ruined when the surgical team came in and explained that the findings of the MRI showed septic arthritis/osteomyelitis, abscess, and dislocation in both affected toes, and osteoarthritis in several toes. His bones in his toes were beginning to breakdown do to degeneration caused by the infection and his diabetes. The infection had gotten into the bone in atleast two toes and now they were not only going to open the foot to clean out the wound/infection they had to amputate the two affected toes. With already being in a horrible position financially and doing everything we could to dig our way out, Robert was very upset and scared, all he could think about was his family and that he could not afford to miss any work. But unfortunately the surgeon said he would need two surgeries, one for the procedure and then one to close the wound. He would be hospitalized for atleast 3-4days. And then he would have an unknown amount of recovery time and physical therapy before he would be able to go back to work. We cannot survive on my income alone. If you can donate to our family please help, we are good people, we contribute positively to society, we have kids, we do not want to end up homeless, we do not want our vehicle to get repossessed, and we don’t want our kids to go hungry. We are doing our absolute best to remain positive in this tough situation that we are facing and we need any help we can get. Please help our family!
