Help Lauren Fight Breast Cancer

Just days before Christmas 2022, Lauren Weis was diagnosed with breast cancer. The news came as a total shock to friends and family as an otherwise perfectly healthy 26-year-old with no family history of the disease.

She originally was told she only needed a mastectomy and Lauren powered through that major surgery in January 2023. Upon further diagnosis, she now has to go through chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

The medical expenses for cancer treatment are extremely high, and insurance only covers a fraction of it. Lauren may need our help to cover the costs of treatments, medications, travel, time out from work and other related expenses.

As if the above concerns are not enough to carry (we never even considered for young women with breast cancer that this was another factor to be considered), her ability to have children in the future will be effected by chemotherapy/radiation and hormone blockers. Her doctors have recommended she undergo fertility treatments to protect her future ability to have children of her own someday. She will go through fertility hormone treatments, egg retrieval and freeze storage until her treatments are finished and the danger of recurrent cancer is passed. This and the entire process will require dozens of appointments, alternative medications and treatment, time off and time away from home. Unfortunately, these fertility procedures are not covered by insurance and are considered completely out-of-pocket.

Lauren is a very compassionate, kind and wise person. She always makes you feel important and is someone friends and family can depend on. Lauren has shown courage and strength through this diagnosis, and we are looking to support her throughout this process in any way we can.
