Help Bonnie kick Cancer's butt!

Donation protected

In November 2016, Bonnie Lovejoy went to the ER experiencing chest pains. Everything was fine with her heart but the doctors found another cause for concern: a shadow in her lung on her chest x-ray. 2017 has been a series of Doctor’s visits, tests and diagnosis. We now know that she has lung cancer and the tiny spot has grown to into a mass which must be removed. Her surgery is on October 5th at Roswell Park Cancer institute in Buffalo, NY and they are removing the entire upper left lobe of her lung (that’s half of her left lung)! We feel so lucky that this was discovered by chance and she has an amazing possibility for a great outcome. She remains strong, positive and is the fighter she has always been in life. However, this process and diagnosis are taking a toll on her financially as the bills are already coming in and her surgery and follow-up treatments will carry a heavy price. She will be out of work and should not have to be worried about money at a time when she needs all of her energy for healing and staying strong.

Bonnie has been a very hard worker and active member of her community for her entire life. She is an Army veteran, a member and volunteer in her local American Legion Post 907, and has held physically demanding and interactive positions for decades at the Statler hotel on the Cornell campus. All this on top of raising 2 daughters, running her own household and taking all the time she can to spoil and care for her 3 grandchildren. She serves her community by helping with fundraisers, serving food, cooking, cleaning, removing litter from our roads and even shaved her head to raise money for cancer victims. Now we ask that she be shown the same love and support as she goes into the biggest battle of her life. There are so many who love and respect her and she needs that now more than ever.

Please consider a donation to help her with medical bills, travel, time off work, household expenses, etc. to help ease her burden. You know she would and HAS done the same for so many. If you are local and prefer to help in other ways, please let us know. It will be a long road and any caregiving, meals, or help around the house would be appreciated, as needed. Time can be just as precious as money while in recovery. She is a strong, proud and independent woman but right now she needs her friends and family to lean on until she is through this. Thank you so much!
