Mark Velarde Fundraising Campaign
Donation protected
Please help our fundraising campaign for Mark Velarde.
Recently, Mark was healthy, strong, vibrant and hard working. He was involved with volunteering for many organizations, helping others, going on church missions and is a long time member of Hope Chapel Kaneohe.
About a month ago, Mark was not feeling well. He went to the doctor and was sent home. The next morning, he could not feel his legs and was unable to walk. He was transported to Queen's Hospital by ambulance and was admitted directly into the ICU.
The doctors diagnosed Mark with Aortic Dissection, a tear in the inner wall of the aorta which causes blood to flow between the layers of the wall of the aorta, forcing the layers apart. As a result, paralysis set in his legs. Mark became a paraplegic overnight.
With Mark's paralysis, Mark's wife, Lori, will now have to make ADA renovations to their home which includes whole house improvements to accommodate a wheelchair. They also need to install a wheelchair lift and ramp to assist Mark in getting up the stairs of their home. We hope that all of these modifications can be made before Mark gets released from the hospital.
Medical expenses are rising daily. Mark is still in ICU at Queen's. When Mark stabilizes, he will then enter the rehabilitation portion of his long recovery. Mark will then be on heart and other medications for the rest of his life.
With our Heavenly Father surrounding him with protection and love, with our continued prayers for healing and positive outlook, we pray that Mark will return home soon.
We thank you for your prayers, love and support. All donations for Mark Velarde are graciously appreciated.
