Recently, our beloved food truck was stolen and later found wrecked. This devastating incident left us without our primary means of operation and has set us back significantly, and like many small businesses, we've been hit hard by the global increase in inflation. The rising costs of ingredients, fuel, and maintenance have put immense pressure on our budget.

On top of the theft and inflation, we've faced various unexpected challenges that have strained our resources and made it difficult to continue operating smoothly.

Our Story:

For those who may not know us, we're The Vegan Hood Chefs – a passionate and dedicated team that has been serving delicious vegan cuisine to our community for years.The Vegan Hood Chefs is not just a food truck; it's a passion project that started with a mission for community organizing for communities of color.

The chefs were motivated by the lack of access to healthy foods within their communities. Growing up in both Lakeview and Bayview Hunters Point areas of San Francisco combined with their experience in community organizing, they began to shine light on how their native communities were experiencing food apartheid. They were able to link illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, and obesity that are prevalent in the community due to poor nutrition access and racial inequality.

The $50,000 we're seeking to raise will go towards:

Recovery and Repairs: A significant portion of the funds will go towards repairing or replacing our food truck, enabling us to get back on the road and serving our delicious vegan cuisine.

Operating Costs: Your support will help us cover our increased operating costs due to inflation, ensuring that we can continue offering affordable, high-quality vegan meals to our community.

Sustainability Initiatives: We are committed to reducing our environmental impact. Your donation will support our efforts to implement more sustainable practices, such as using eco-friendly packaging and sourcing locally.
