Hey guys,
I lost my legs at the age of two from bacterial meningitis, and I've been going to amputee camp ever since I became old enough to. In the last year the camp has suffered from a lack of funding, and as such I cannot attend unless I personally raise the money to pay for my flight out there and my bunk.
Amputee camp each year has been one of the most positive experiences of my entire life. I've met fantastic friends and had unforgettable experiences out there, and I look forward to going back every year. Every minute of the camp is jam-packed with fun-- my friends and I are always joking, playing around, or participating in activities with cool counselors specially catered for amputees so that everyone can participate. Everyone out there really cares about each other, and the feeling of being surrounded by other people who have struggled through the same hardships as you is one that I wouldn't trade for the world and one that makes me happier and stronger coming out. Next year I'll be able to become a counselor-in-training, and the year after that a counselor-- I'd love to have that opportunity eventually.
I'm asking for your help in raising the funds for me to attend, and, for that to happen, I have to be funded by May 12th. Any help is greatly appreciated. If we raise over $2000 we will donate it so another child can go!
