The Vallejo Sun Anniversary Fundraiser

It’s been one year since the launch of the Vallejo Sun!

We started our local news publication to cover police, local government, schools and more in Vallejo and Solano County, California, on Sept. 15, 2021, and we’ve accomplished a lot in the last year.

We’ve published hundreds of stories, launched a podcast, and published several major investigations. And we’ve received generous support from numerous community members who have put us on the road to long-term sustainability.

To celebrate, and to show you a little of what it takes to produce this kind of journalism, we've created a special anniversary episode of our podcast. You can hear from each of us why we do the work we do, why we think it matters, and what we have planned for the future of the Vallejo Sun.

But that work is expensive to produce, and at the end of the year, we’ve still got a pretty big gap in our budget.

We’re looking to fill some of that with grants and partnerships. But we could use some extra support from you, our readers, to help us finish this first year in a solid position. That’s why we’re asking you to chip in to help us fill that gap with a one-time contribution today.
