Cheryl Rose Franklin, known affectionately as Cheryl to her loved ones, passed away on July 6, 2024, at the age of 53, due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident. Born on March 21, 1971, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, Cheryl's warmth and vivacity brought light and joy to all who knew her.
Cheryl was a 1990 graduate of Sayre High School, where she first crossed paths with her future husband, Bryan Franklin. Life took them on separate journeys, only for their paths to reconnect and culminate in marriage last year, a testament to their enduring love. Together, they shared a blended family that was the very heart of Cheryl's world. She was a devoted mother and stepmother to Katie Merritt, Kyle and Kelly Merritt, Austin and Aleiza Merritt, Aaron Merritt, Alexis Garrison, Logan Garrison, and Ashley Chandler, and Kyle Franklin. Her love extended to her cherished grandchildren: Benjamin, Brantley, Colton, Bella, McKinley, Waylon, Savanna, Ely, Cullen, Able, Easton, and Hudson, each of whom brought a unique joy to her life.
Cheryl's siblings, George (Cindy) Manuel, Jason (Suzie) Manuel, Dennis (Bobbi Jo) Manuel, Eric (Emmy) Manuel, DeVaughn (Patty) Manuel, Amy (Floyd) Bacorn, and Jamie (Carrie) Perham, shared a deep bond with her, filled with laughter and unwavering support. She was a beloved daughter-in-law to Gerry and Shirley Franklin and a dear sister-in-law to Pamela (Vince) Leising. Her extended family of several aunts and uncles, among them Frank, Grace, Ray, and John, as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, will miss her deeply. Cheryl was welcomed into heaven by her parents George and Rosemary (Brown) Manuel.
Professionally, Cheryl brought her caring and diligent nature to Borg Warner in Ithaca, NY, where she was respected and valued by her colleagues. Her work ethic was second only to her devotion to her family, which was the true center of her world.
Cheryl's passions were numerous and reflected her love for life. She treasured her family above all else and found joy in decorating her home to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Cheryl was happiest when she was at the beach, with Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City holding special places in her heart. She also cherished the time spent at Worlds End Park, where nature's beauty was a source of peace and happiness. Cheryl's flower gardens were her sanctuary, and she found delight in the company of cardinals and blue jays, which she fondly believed were her parents paying a visit.
Known for her loving, friendly, and generous spirit, Cheryl's presence was a gift to those around her. She had the innate ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, a trait that will be remembered and missed by all.
In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Cheryl's love and the memories she created with her family and friends will continue to live on, a lasting legacy of a life filled with love and kindness.
A time of remembering the special gift Cheryl was to all of us will be held at a later date. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting her guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com
