Dan Bisek's Cancer Relief Fund
Donation protected
As many of you know, in November 2016 Dan was diagnosed with a form of blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma, which is rare in someone his age. After many rounds of radiation and a 5 level fusion to repair a vertebra that the cancer destroyed, he went into remission until the summer of 2019. Fast forward to February 2020. Dan went in for routine blood work and scans and a new tumor was found in his femur. More radiation was given with success, but only 2 months later 2 more spots were discovered in his sternum and tailbone.
In June 2020 Dan started 4 cycles (months) of oral chemotherapy in prep for a Stem Cell Transplant that will be performed at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Through all of this in 2020 Dan has continued to work, but that will be ending for a while. Dan and Amber will be staying in Rochester for 6-8 weeks beginning in October. His Doctors feel this is the best approach to put him into a longer state of remission, as Multiple Myeloma is not curable.
The recovery from Stem Cell Transplant can be quite grueling and Dan will be out of work for a while. He's hoping to be back by April 1, 2021, but there are a lot of unknowns at this time. Not only will he have lost income while waiting for disability insurance to kick in (3 months), Amber will be caring for him full time and also be out of work and by Dan's side for 6-8 weeks as well without income.
Whether you know Dan from his remodeling company or from many of the organizations he volunteers with, you will know he is one of the most family focused guys there is. His wife Amber and daughters Lindsay and Emily are his highest priority!
They are also one of the first to step up to support family, friends, and community, so we'd like to support the Bisek's by fundraising to help make sure that Dan's health and recovery can be their primary focus.
Dan and his family are so appreciative of the outpouring of support and love they have received already and look forward to sharing good news with all of you in the future!
