My Breast Cancer Journey
Donation protected
My name is Sandra Reid and I have survived breast cancer once in 2015. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed in August 2023 with a different breast cancer (triple negative)! Immediately I started chemotherapy and have done five months.
During those five months, I have been hospitalized twice. Once was for an anaphalaxic reaction to the chemo. The second hospitalization was for a pulmonary embolism in my artery, which I am still being treated for. I still have to undergo surgery, radiation, and a possible 2nd surgery...which could take me into August of 2024 to complete.
Due to the aggressive nature of this disease and treatment I have not been able to return to my position as a teacher's assistant. At this point all of my paid leave as well as 30 days of donated leave from coworkers has been exhausted. As of February 1, I will be on unpaid FMLA.
This cancer journey has been life altering, challenging, difficult on me, my family, and friends. As I continue to navigate through this journey I will still have monthly living expenses and no paycheck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My faith tells me I will survive a 2nd time!
God Bless You!
