"Wai Nau" Aloha for Palestine Water Project
Donation protected
Aloha kākou, as many of you know, among the horrors suffered by Palestinians under the zionist entityʻs U.S. funded occupation has been dehydration and starvation due to a complete siege and blockade as well as the destruction and poisoning of every means of accessing clean drinking water. Wai Nau is a response to this dire need for daily trusted water distribution in collaboration with a friend of ours in Gaza, who goes by the name of "Palestini" (he would like to remain anonymous due to safety concerns), a former university employee and student advocate now living through some of the most unimaginable circumstances in a war zone. We are a small grassroots group of individuals from diverse backgrounds united in our aloha for the Palestinians, our community as people living in the occupied kanaka oiwi lands of Hawaiʻi, and our understanding that everyone should have clean water and be able to care for their land.
In our regular check-in calls, Palestini walks miles to find internet zones where he can update from the ground in Gaza and each time he tells us that what we are seeing in the news and on social media is “not even a small fraction” of the carnage in which they are living. He also tells of a severe shortage of water due to the blockade, a complete destruction of the water infrastructure, and pollution due to American-made weapons relentlessly inflicted on the people. We like many others receive first hand ongoing reports and evidence of how poisonous chemicals into the soil and wells, polluting water and spreading diseases among repeatedly displaced people.
In his words:
“For the second day in a row, we continue to implement the Wai Nau “For You” campaign to provide the displaced in the Gaza Strip with potable water. Hundreds of families who are in dire need of potable water have benefited from the campaign, after your generous donation and support for our people in this barbaric war to which we are being subjected by the criminal Zionist enemy. We will continue to supply other areas with water in the coming days so that the largest possible number of Palestinian families can benefit from the campaign. We always look forward to your continued contribution and support so that we can extend a helping hand to the suffering and bereaved. From the people of Palestine, we send you the warmest and most sublime expressions of thanks and gratitude for what you provide to us in these difficult circumstances that we are going through. May you and your generosity continue.”
In response to this ongoing manmade catastrophe by the occupation, Palestini and other community members on the ground are working to distribute potable water to families in the camps. We want to share this urgent call for mutual aid in case any of you all feel moved to chip in. With the funding we have been able to collect for him, this project since its launch currently services 500 families in middle Gaza specifically providing water to areas not being reached by other existing humanitarian aid projects.
Your funding will help Palestini continue to obtain and distribute water, currently an incredibly dangerous and expensive endeavor, as well as provide he and his team with resources for improved internet and communications. We intend to transfer the funds from a bank in Hawaii directly into a Palestinian bank account where he has been accessing the funds so far.
Of course, he has reiterated in each of our meetings that the most important thing we can do is to pressure our government to stop sending weapons and to use its leverage to broker a ceasefire, but as this brutal war wages on, this initiative will also bring life-saving relief to families in Gaza.
Thank you for your support and solidarity with the people of Gaza. Aloha, God bless and free Palestine ❤️
