Wakonda Unit Improvement Campaign - New Beds
Tax deductible
In 2019 we launched our Unit Improvement Campaign to increase our ability to serve high school campers in our Girls' Overnight Camp. In the past three years we have expanded the Pioneers and Rangers Units, adding 27 more spaces to camp for 8th and 11th graders. Now, it's Wakonda's turn. This 10th grade unit is currently located on a cleared powerline path, which doesn't offer much privacy or picturesque views. It currently holds 14 campers, with a long waiting list. The Camp Newaygo Advisory Board and staff selected a beautiful new site overlooking Emerald Lake, to build three new sleeping pavilions that will hold 28 campers total. We can't wait to have overnight campers enjoying them this summer.
We have raised $175,000 of the $225,000 needed for this amazing new space for 10th graders. Support this project to purchase of 34 new beds, replacing the older model, well-loved after 41 years at camp. Each bed is $470. Any size donation will help us reach our goal.
Grand Opening ribbon cutting will be June 11th during the Alumni Reunion!
