Walk for Liberia Mission

Tax deductible
What: Virtual 5K Walk/Run (3.1 miles).

When: Complete anytime on or around Saturday, May 20th/Sunday, May 21, 2023. (Add reminder to Google Calendar)

Donation: Your donation of any amount will support Liberia Mission's education fund. We provide partial scholarships to our former beneficiaries on the Mission, helping to launch students on their college journeys. Your donation empowers young Liberians to break the cycle of poverty by becoming future leaders in their families, communities, and country in the wake of brutal civil wars and a deadly Ebola outbreak.

The education fund has been used by Liberia Mission to support students attending universities such as The University of Liberia, Stella Maris Polytechnic University, and United Methodist University. To date, the participating students have pursued collegiate degrees in areas such as General Agriculture, Public Administration, Accounting, Civil Engineering, Nursing, and Sociology.

“Liberia Mission made me who I am. It has taken me from a government school in Lofa to a comprehensive Catholic education. Then, it paid for my college. And then, it gave me a job and the stability to care for my family. Liberia Mission has made my life the joy that it is.” - Flomo Kerkula, former beneficiary and current Financial Officer of Liberia Mission

About: This year marks our 20th anniversary! Since 2003, Franciscan Works has been supporting Liberia Mission, a community of love, learning, work, and prayer. Liberia Mission, located in West Africa, cares for 400 poor and orphaned children who live in the aftermath of Liberia’s brutal civil war and deadly Ebola outbreak. These tragedies took countless lives and contributed to a lack of infrastructure, intergenerational poverty, and poor healthcare in Liberia. Liberia Mission empowers students with faith and education to become future leaders in their families, communities, and country.
