Walk for our Laura

Donation protected
"Walk for Laura" was created by a group of Laura Cliffe's family and friends.

Laura passed away suddenly on the 12th October 2019 and our lives changed forever.

We said it was high time we did something to remember Laura by raising awareness of what led to Laura's passing. If we can save one life by creating this page and doing this challenge it will be worth every step.

Laura passed aware from SUDEP. This is sudden unexpected death by epilepsy. Up to this point most of us hadn't heard of SUDEP. Laura suffered from a  seizure in 2016but was never diagnosed with epilepsy even though she had gone through numerous tests to see did she suffer from this. All tests and scans came back clear and Laura lived a very normal life until her untimely passing.

Laura was a real free spirit and one of her many adventures brought her to New Zealand in 2009 where she met Suzette, her partner. Laura lived in Auckland New Zealand for about 6 years until they decided to move back to Ireland. Laura was a sports fanatic and loved a good challenge so now we are going to challenge ourselves to something that we think she would enjoy if she was around with us.

We have got a group together to try and walk the equivalent of Dungarvan to New Zealand.

This is about 23 million steps and we have 56 volunteers that have committed to doing approx 10,000 steps a day for 42 days in a row.

We are starting our challenge on the 1st of November and hope to be completed on the 12th December.

All we are asking you to do is sponsor us by making a donation to Epilepsy Ireland through this link.
