Walk for Water 2021
Tax deductible
We are beyond thrilled to be kicking off the 2021 Walk for Water at the Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School (and for it to be back in person, too)!
This year will be our 9th Walk for Water. In the past eight years, we have raised over $60,000, sponsored 8 wells, and transformed the lives of 8 communities in South Sudan.
We are raising money for the organization Water for South Sudan. It is a sponsored walk that will raise money to bring a well to a needy community in South Sudan. This organization will drill and build a well this coming winter for a community that currently does not have access to safe, clean drinking water.
Having a well close to home transforms lives. People will not get sick from water related diseases and miss out on an education or income. Girls can go to school and get an education rather than having to walk with their mothers to fetch water. Women can spend the hours they previously used walking and fetching water on more productive tasks – growing food, caring for children, making an income.
This year, our Walk for Water will take place on Tuesday, June 15. During the walk, we will be carrying water. Often children carry 50 lb jerry cans for hours each day. By participating in this activity, we will gain empathy and understanding of what it is to have to walk so many miles each day to fetch water. We walk knowing that every step we take will help someone not have to make this type of walk again.
If we reach our goal, the Class of 2023 will have naming rights to the well that is drilled in South Sudan, and there will be a forever reminder of the impact that we have made.
Let’s continue to show how CCLCS supports our global community and bring clean water once again to another community in need. Together, we can change lives forever.
