Walk, row, ride & run in memory of Ross burland

Hello to one and all.

This page is here to help spread awareness of the fundraising challenge we are currently in the process of arranging, which is in memory of our Lovely Ross.

With the blessing of Ross's family as well as help from them and Ross's friends and colleagues, we have together come up with a challenge that won't be easy but will hopefully raise some money for a charity picked by the Burland clan. It'll also bring together those who know and love Ross and do something special in his honour.

So...the challenge. As the title suggests; involves walking, rowing, riding/cycling and running. Below I will give details and distances of each part of the challenge. If you are reading this and feel like it's something you'd like to get involved with then please message me, comment on the page or contact any of Ross's family.

The date of the challenge is the weekend of the 18th and 19th of April.

The Walk (16 miles/5-6hours)
Starting just outside of Wellington (near to where Ross used to work), we will walk up to Wimbleball Lake - a place Ross used to enjoy visiting.

The Row (7-8 miles/4+ hours)
Once at the lake, we will circumnavigate it on either kayaks or canoes. At the moment the number of people that can do this is limited to about 14-18. Extra kayaks may need to be hired from the lake if more want to join us.

CAMP OVERNIGHT
(There is camping at Wimbleball Lake)

The Ride (21miles/3-4 hours)
In the morning we will depart from wimbleball and cycle to Taunton - Canal road to be precise. It'll all be road cycling so a road bike is essential to save as much energy as possible for the run.

The Run (13 miles/rest of the day)
Probably the hardest part of the challenge, we'll be running roughly half a marathon along the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal path (atleast it's flat!). Ending at the docks in Bridgwater.

We already have a number of people keen for this event but obviously anyone is more than welcome to join us for the entire challenge, parts of the challenge, even if it's just the camping!

I'm sure some of you are worrying about your level of fitness (I certainly am), which is why I've created this group now. 3 months should be long enough to get up to fitness for anyone wanting to take part. It's taking part that counts, it isn't a race!

Myself and others will be posting training ideas/plans as well as other information linked to this event, including the fundraising page once it has been set up.
This page will also be used to spread awareness on the struggles we sometimes face regarding our mental health and little things we can do to try and deal with those struggles.

Please share this page as much as possible so it reaches out to everyone that knew Ross.

Thanks alot for taking the time to read through the page.
