Walk to save Maui Dolphins in NZ
Donation protected
Hi,
We are 4 families doing the Milford Sound walk in NZ. We are walking to raise awareness for the endangered species,Maui Dolphins. They are a subspecies of the Hector’s Dolphin that are critically endangered. There are fewer than 50 Maui Dolphins left in the world. These days the population is fragmented into small local populations. They are found only in the shallow coastal waters along western shores of New Zealand’s North Island. The main causes of there extinction is man-made. Set netting and trawling are the principle threats for these animals. Set netting is practice close to the shore and around harbours where these dolphins frequently swim. The dolphins are unable to detect the fine filaments of the nets and get caught and drown. So please donate so we don’t lose these precious species. The funding will go to the endangered species organisation to help the Maui Dolphins.
