Seren Dwt Welcome Baby Boxes and more!

A bit about us...

We launched the 'Seren Dwt' project on World Down Syndrome Day - 21st March 2022, aiming to gift Welcome Baby Boxes to families of babies born with Down syndrome in our local hospitals. Within 6 months of launching, we had fundraised, made up and gifted Welcome Baby boxes to ALL birthing hospitals in Wales!

To date, we have made and delivered over 100 boxes to hospitals throughout Wales!

We have also set up a closed Facebook group 'Seren Dwts in Wales' for all families in Wales with a child or young person with Down syndrome, we host a monthly meet up group for 0-5yr olds with Down syndrome and their parents/carers and host school holiday meet ups open to all families with a child/family member with Down syndrome.

We want to ensure we can continue to gift these boxes to hospitals throughout Wales, so that all families receive this positive welcome, support and signposting when their baby is born.

The feedback from families about our 'meet ups' has been so positive; the importance of having a space to be with people who 'get it', a place our extra sparkly children can be themselves freely, a space their siblings can meet other siblings and see that their families are similar...

And we would love to do more to support our families...

We donated 20% of our fundraising from our 'Walk Under the Stars' in March 2023, to the wonderful charity 'Follow Your Dreams', to thank them for the trip to Bluestone some of us benefitted from in 2022 and for them to put towards their fundraising for Bluestone 2024! This came to a fantastic £708.44 (after transaction fees).

We will be keeping this fundraising platform open for ongoing fundraising for Seren Dwt, with 100% of donations from now going to Seren Dwt.
