Walking 500 miles for victims of modern slavery
My name is Yasmin Jade and on the 19th August 2024 I am leaving my home in London with my 6 year old daughter and two dogs and walking from London to Scotland camping along the way pulling them along with our wagon. You can follow our journey on TikTok @yasmin_jade_cali
I will be hiking across the UK for four weeks to complete my goal, I thank everyone supporting me in this incredible challenge.
In 2019 I was a victim of modern slavery and my exploiters took over £20000 from me I aim to raise this money back for the women and children who need it the most and sharing more of my story along the way
Causeway the charity I have chosen have saved my life as well as many others in the UK without them I wouldn’t be here to share my story with you all.
Causeway is a national charity that exists to create lasting change for marginalised and vulnerable people. This includes survivors of modern slavery and those in cycles of exploitation and crime. We have a team of around 200 staff who work with 2,000 people each year across our services, using a trauma-informed approach to support them in their recovery and help them build safe and fulfilling futures. Our modern slavery services include safe houses and out-reach programmes for adults who have experienced exploitation, forced labour, and human trafficking. We also run employment programmes, signpost into education, and support people to regain their self-confidence and independence.
