Walking for Autism Awareness

My name is Ashana Makhija and I am the cofounder and executive director of Care for a Friend, a program under the Akhil Autism Foundation. Care for a Friend is a program dedicated to improving social skills and community life of children with autism. For the past three years, I have been working towards researching and raising money for autism awareness through Care for a Friend. My dad, Rajesh Makhija, my mom, Nidhi Makhija, and I are participating in a charity walk for AAF on May 11 in Piscataway, NJ. If you can, please join us for the walk and support our mission. The proceeds will go towards sponsoring and conducting research, jointly with institutes like Rutgers University, etc. , on identifying and validating medical treatments and social therapies for autism.
