My walk to end 22
Donation protected
My name is Jiuseppe William Copeland I am a United States Navy SeaBee veteran. I spent the majority of my Enlistment time in the sandbox (Iraq, Kuwait). During my deployments I witnessed many horrible aspects of War. My experiences there and my training changed me dramatically. I now suffer from combat PTSD . Combat PTSD is a specific type of PTSD experienced by men and women who have been in combat. Combat PTSD can happen to anyone in combat, from those that have experienced live fire to those who are support workers in a war zone area. Not everyone in combat experiences combat PTSD, but many do.
Defining Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental illness that can afflict anyone who experiences or witnesses extreme trauma that constitutes a threat to the life of an individual or another person. Not everyone who experiences this type of trauma gets PTSD and it’s unknown why some individuals get PTSD and others don’t. Combat PTSD and combat related depression and other mental illness are the leading causes of post active-duty suicides. An average of 22 veterans And1 active duty member commit suicide every day. I don't have an answer to fix the statistic but I will do what I can to raise awareness if I can save one person from taking their own life 22 combat PTSD all of this will be worth it.
In early 2017 I will be living out one of my life long dreams of walking from one cost to the other. I'll be doing this to raise awareness for combat PTSD and the 22 lives that do not need to end every day. I expect my total monetary needs on my walk to be less than $5,000 however every penny I make above my goal will go towards helping veterans in some way.
