Wall of Moms Bay Area
Donation protected
We are now Wall of Many.
We are moms and other guardians of the future in the Bay Area, rising up to defend the rights of the next generation to protest peacefully and live in a democracy. Trump has announced he will be sending secret Federal police to Oakland, as he has already done to Portland.
Protestors for racial justice in Portland have been snatched up by police in unmarked rental vans, and the Feds have used tear gas and batons to violently disperse peaceful crowds. A group called Wall of Moms, wearing yellow and wielding sunflowers, has risen up to protect protestors, now on their fourth night, with thousands participating in a small city of 650,000 people. They have been joined by dads with leaf blowers to fend off tear gas, as well as grandparents and protectors of all ages.
Our first protest was on Saturday, July 25 night in Oakland, and it was a peaceful, determined, joyous and safe event, though it was marred by vandalism of the Police and Court buildings right afterwards. Oakland PD bizarrely tweeted about it including the hashtag #WallofMoms. We heard from longtime organizers that the protest Saturday was the most diverse they have seen in a long time - in race, age and class. We estimated that thousands attended (while the media states hundreds). Here is a GREAT three minute video of the rally and march. by Lis Cox
Most importantly, we are hoping you will turn out again and again, wearing yellow or orange for solidarity. There are many protests ahead. We are raising money for reusable sunflowers, water, first aid kits, sealed safety glasses, masks/respirators, and any required permit fees and fines. Every dollar helps, so please consider donating what you might have spent on gas or tolls for each protest you are unable to attend.
If you can't join us in the streets or donate a few $$, don't fret! It's really, really helpful if you follow and amplify our social media:

IMPORTANT:
This gofundme is set up using the account of a volunteer activist due to the timeline - we came together LAST WEEK. The payee doesn't have to be designated until Nov 22, and we are working with BIPOC Wall of Moms members in Portland and Don't Shoot Portland to ensure payouts are done right. To clarify our values:
- We are not paying any protestors - moms or not.
- We do intend to reimburse POC organizers who are buying supplies on their own dime.
- We do intend to nominally pay professionals we recruit to protect everyone, such as investigative journalists, medics and nurses. We preferentially recruit BIPOC, specifically Black women, whenever possible. Please send us a message via Facebook or Instagram to work with us.
