Wallick Family Assistance

Many of you probably know that my dad’s health declined significantly four years ago, when he was lifelighted the first time. There have been continuous struggles in those four years and life has not been the same for him. He has been unable to work, and most days he gets winded walking across the house. This last Wednesday, he was choking and had to be flown to Sioux City. Since his arrival, they have found multiple concerning issues that have kept him in ICU.  One of the biggest now is his weak heart. But until he’s out of ICU, they can’t do a lot to address that. We are waiting on a lot of answers to see what the future will be like.

As my dad has been unable to work in four years, this creates its own set of challenges. My mom doesn’t know I’m asking, and she’d probably tell me not to do this, but I don’t want her to worry about how she’s going to make ends meet during this long process. She’ll likely miss a lot of work. Every day she drives from Osmond to Sioux City and back (roughly 2 1/2 hours on the road each day) and I don’t want her to worry about how she’s going to pay for gas or a bite to eat or the regular bills that still need to be paid. My dad is covered by insurance, but there will be a lot of medical expenses leftover. A helicopter flight alone is tens of thousands of dollars.

If you can find it in your heart to help, our family would be very grateful. Any proceeds will go directly to my mom to help with necessary expenses, gas, utilities, food, etc. Whatever might be leftover will go directly to medical bills.
