About four weeks ago Walter began to experience severe and uncontrollable headaches. Due to the headaches Walter went to an urgent care for assistance, he then later went to Pleasant Valley Hospital with the same condition. While at the hospital awaiting treatment, Walter collapsed.
A CT scan was performed and the results of the scan showed Walter was suffering from a Brain Aneurysm (brain bleed). The CT scan also revealed Walter had a brain tumor. He was later transported to St. Johns in Oxnard where he would later undergo surgery to remove the brain tumor and stop the bleeding.
On September 12, 2019 Walter under went a successful surgery. The tumor was removed and sent to the lab for testing to determine if the tumor was cancerous or benign. After the surgery Walter spent multiple days in sedation to assist with the healing process. Around September 20, 2019, Walter began to show signs of improvement, he began talking, walking and taking steps to recovery. We knew it would be a long uphill battle to a full recovery but knowing Walter and his personality, we knew he could handle the fight.
On September 27, 2019, Walter was hit with more disheartening news, he learned the tumor that was removed was cancerous. The cancer was determined to be either stage 2 or 3 Astrocytoma. Walter was told he would need weeks of Chemotherapy and radiation and it would take place at Cedar's Sinai Hospital. He will be transferred there around Monday September 30th to continue his battle against this terrible disease.
The medical bills are piling up as I'm sure the bills are at home. Walter would never ask for anyone's assistance so I am doing it for him. Anything anyone can donate to assist Walter with his medical bills and bills at home would be beyond appreciative. His Doctor believes it could be up to a year or longer of rehabilitation and therapy before he is fully recovered.
I have known Walter for about 25 years and he would be the first person to take his shirt off his back for you. He has been in all of his best friends weddings and is considered family by many. He has a heart of gold and absolutely loves his friends and family. He would do anything to protect the ones he loves and stand up for what is right. Walter is "Uncle Walter" to my kids and many others. Walter volunteers his time and mentors many young kids in the community.
Again I ask if possible please assist Walter with his medical bills as they continue to pile up.
