The 6th Region African Diaspora Alliance in Tanzania (6RADAT) serves as a vital liaison civil society organization, fostering cross-cultural, educational, community service, advocacy and development activities between the Historic African Diaspora and Tanzania. The organization's mission is to support African descendants from around the world in their repatriation, integration, and contribution to the ongoing development of Tanzania.
6RADAT is excited to announce the commencement of our participation in the 2024 AU Education Theme of the Year by officially implementing our support to Wama Secondary in Lindi, and commemorating International Women's Day with a special event at the school.
Our commitment involves supplying essential resources to sustain students, promote their continuous attendance and help them keep the school doors open. In addition, we will be delivering a motivational presentation about - The place of women in technology in Africa's economic independence.
Wama Sharaf Secondary school is a girls’ only boarding school. They provides O-level education to qualified students who are recruited from all over Tanzania. The school offers studies under the curriculum of Tanzania (O-level studies), and its mission is to encourage the students towards science studies. The school was officially opened on February 8th, 2016 with a total of 37 students and 7 Teachers. Wama Foundation had equipped the school with enough highly skilled staff and facilities it needed to open - like laboratories, a library and an IT center. All students enjoy a safe and comfortable environment in the modernly designed dormitories and multipurpose sports hall and grounds.
Currently, about 100 girls from disadvantaged backgrounds are enrolled at Wama Sharaf Secondary School. As such, they need personal hygiene supplies, stationary supplies, food supplies, and farming supplies for the 5 acre farm to grow some of what they need.
In line with our commitment to fostering educational transformation and empowerment, 6RADAT is proud to celebrate International Women's Day with Wama Sharaf Secondary Girls school. In addition, under the African Union 2024 theme of Education’s slogan "When we invest in women, (especially in technology) we accelerate progress exponentially” - we aim to highlight the importance of investing in women's education, particularly in the field of Technology. During the March 8th event, we will be providing essential personal and academic supplies to the students and school.
As a small NGO who relies on our members for support we need to expand our reach for this venture. Your contribution will play a pivotal role in making a positive impact on the education and lives of these young girls.
