War Child’s Crisis Response Fund
FOR A CHILD FACING THE BRUTAL IMPACT OF WAR, TIME STOPS. FOR WAR CHILD, IT IS TIME TO BEGIN.
War is chaotic and unpredictable. It can flare up without notice, change direction at any moment and drive entire communities from their homes within hours.
To protect children caught up in its vortex we must respond with flexibility and a fierce immediacy. This means being able to direct funding towards those greatest need without delay.
We can’t watch and wait for funding bodies to catch up while leaving thousands of children unprotected when they at their most vulnerable.
War Child’s new Crisis Response Fund is designed to provide fast-acting support to communities when war breaks out and when new challenges arise that threaten the rights and lives of children.
Gifts to the Crisis Response Fund can make possible:
- Adding more local lawyers and legal professionals to increase the number of pro-bono cases we can accept in Uganda.
- Immediate assistance to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh where 730,000 refugees – 400,000 of them children – are living in disastrous conditions after being brutally forced to flee their homes by their own government in Myanmar.
- Support for refugee families in Jordan displaced by brutal conflicts and who are now facing a struggle to survive and rebuild in cities and villages decimated by fighting.
Wherever War Child works, our priority is to protect children from the brutal impact of war. We help more than 600,000 war-affected children and civilians through education, poverty reduction and access to justice. We ensure that children and the communities in which they live have the opportunity to rebuild and thrive after conflict.
In the past twenty years, War Child has developed a proven track record of success in the hardest hit areas of the world. Because 98% of our staff are recruited from within the communities where we work, our programs are more effective, community-driven, responsive, and cost-efficient. Our commitment to these communities is long-term and our programs are resilient - even when faced with the outbreak of emergency or war.
We are raising money to support War Child’s new Crisis Response Fund. This fund enables us to act independently and avoid delay by providing fast-acting support to communities when war breaks out. By supporting this fund, you are making possible War Child’s response to the world’s most pressing emergencies and crises affecting children.
On behalf of our staff and the children we work with, thank you.
