Warbirds financial recovery
Donation protected
Oshkosh Youth Hockey Association provides kids with a safe environment to play hockey and learn valuable concepts such as physical fitness, respect, camaraderie, teamwork and leadership.
In March of this year, the Oshkosh Youth Hockey Association discovered significant financial irregularities within the non-profit organization. While investigating the matter, the Board of Directors was informed that a Board Officer had surrendered to the Oshkosh Police Department and admitted to stealing at least $60,000 from the organization. OYHA’s internal investigation revealed that nearly all of its cash reserves were gone. OYHA and its Board of Directors have fully cooperated with the Oshkosh Police Department’s ongoing investigation.
These children and their families have worked tirelessly to raise funds by working at a local brat barn, selling pizzas and candy bars, selling tickets to community events and working concession stands over several years. These funds pay for our ice time (keeping registration fees manageable for families), purchase equipment and fund programs like Try Hockey for Free and the Hockey Introduction Program which introduce the sport to kids at zero cost. These funds have also enabled us to provide scholarships for children that want to play the great sport of hockey but whose families do not have the financial means to do so.
We are seeking to raise $60,000 to pay for our ice time from last season and to ensure we have the funds to support Oshkosh Youth Hockey moving forward.
Thank you for considering our request and for your support.
