Ward 1E glasgow children's hospital
We have decided to take part in this years Edinburgh kilt walk on the 15th of September to raise much needed funds for Ward 1E Glasgow Children's Hospital who have been caring and supporting us and our daughter since she was born.
On the 12th of August 2022 our beautiful little girl Abbie was born with a congenital heart defect (CHD) called Pulmonary Atresia which was first picked up at our 20 week scan. Since that first diagnosis in Edinburgh we were transferred to the cardiac team in Glasgow who have cared for both us as parents coming to terms with having a baby with such a condition and more importantly caring for Abbie from the second she was born.
When Abbie was born we spent 7 weeks in Glasgow children's hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit then moved to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and finally over to Ward 1E which is the Cardiac Rehabilitation Ward where we met the staff that have looked after Abbie everytime she is in for surgery and any other procedures and will continue to visit the ward until she is 16 years old.
Abbie has had open heart surgeries along with several other small operations so has spent alot of her first year with the nurses and doctors, including her 1st birthday which they took the time to organise balloons banners and cards for her special day after just been through her second open heart surgery.
For the first year of Abbies life the care and attention that all the consultants, surgeons, doctors and nurses we have delt with is amazing and they deserve every bit of praise possible as we couldn't have got through those tough and challenging times without their help.
All funds raised will be donated directly to Ward 1E to help staff support the children and their families.
