Warm Coats for Kids in Lugum: Help Us Keep Them Cozy!
Donation protected
Winter is coming, and we're on a mission to bring warm rain and winter coats to the children of Lugum!
About Lugum Village:
Lugum is a remote mountain village in Nepal, known for its traditional architecture and rich cultural heritage. It’s a special place where, once a year, shamans from across the district gather.
Arun Lama first learned about Lugum through a friend from the area who collaborates with international anthropologists.
In 2023, Arun, along with friends and volunteers, took on a meaningful project: setting up a library for the Bhumi Adarbhut Primary School in Lugum. Since then, he’s made a habit of visiting the village to lend a hand.
Arun stays in close contact with the school and collaborates with its principal. Their next goal is to provide rain and winter coats for the children. The school is growing, and they’re currently expanding to welcome more students. Right now, there are about 115 students, ranging from 4 to 15.
So far, Arun has raised €400, and we need €700 more by December, which is when we’ll visit Lugum again to bring the coats.
Who We Are:
We’re a small team: Arun Lama, who began working with the school, along with his friends and me, Calypso Larosse. I’ve recently joined to help out.
Our Creative Endeavor:
In 2024, we traveled to Lugum with a group of friends and artists to shoot the first music video for The Flying Spirits. If you're curious to see the beauty of Lugum and its traditions, the video offers a glimpse into the daily lives of the villagers and serves as a heartfelt tribute to them. Watch here .
