Warrington Wolves Academy Australia Tour 2023

The Warrington Wolves Academy players and staff go on a three-week trip to Australia leaving on the 15th October 2023. The Academy Australia Tour is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our Academy team. The tour will allow them to experience top-class training in excellent facilities and to play 3 competitive games as part of their professional development and education. Games have been arranged against South Sydney Rabbitohs, West Tigers and a New South Wales Under 17’s select team. There is also an opposed game against Canterbury Bulldogs. The team will be based in Penrith and Sydney. They will also be able to experience the rich Australian culture by visiting iconic landmarks.

Warrington Wolves Supporters Trust & Squadbuilder are helping with the organisation of the tour and have pledged a minimum of £10,000 to the fundraising effort.

This is a massive challenge logistically and financially, but already several fundraising events have taken place including a Curry Night at The Village, a Race Night at Monks Sports Club, the Squadbuilder Quiz Night in June and the Question of Rugby at the King’s Head. We also had a stall selling retro sporting gear at The Neighbourhood Weekender in May courtesy of SJM Concerts. We are delighted that Starsailor will be playing a special acoustic set in the 40/Twenty lounge at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on 12th September

The party consists of 46 players and staff. Each tour member has been challenged to raise £1500 towards the costs of the tour which is costing an eye watering £160,000. Warrington Wolves are match funding the touring party’s fundraising. We are extremely grateful to The Stuart Middleton Foundation for their most generous donation of £63,000 towards the cost of the trip.

We have received over £83,000 in donations towards our group target of £95,000.
