'Warrior' - Some Battles Are Invisible

"Jenny's invisible chronic illness that has negatively impacted her life for almost a decade is about to be diagnosed. As her appointment draws near, painful memories resurface and the depth of the injustice she has endured becomes clear."
'Warrior' is a transparent story that will raise awareness of chronic and Invisible Illness, the impact it has on people's lives and the struggles faced in the pursuit of a diagnosis.
‘Warrior’ is based on a true story, my personal experience living with an undiagnosed chronic illness in Ireland for over a decade. However I am not the only one with this story, this is happening to countless people, men and women alike, who are suffering in silence. This project will raise awareness to not only the impact chronic illness has on every area of the patient’s life, but also the time that is spent and difficulty that can arise in the pursuit of a diagnosis. ‘Warrior’ will show the hurdles that sick people come up against trying to get help and how they are received in society. I feel this film has a significant amount of relatability because almost all with whom I have shared Jenny’s story, have either gone through something similar and/or knows someone who has.
‘Warrior’ is an example of an underrepresented voice in the film industry, as it is not simply a story about chronic illness, but is specifically about those who are ill, with no answers at the moment. Jenny’s story will offer a transparent take on invisible illnesses. More representation for people with chronic and/or invisible illness would be fantastic for the industry now and going forward. Their stories deserve to be told and must be heard, if there is to be a greater awareness, acceptance and ultimately a change in attitude towards those who have them.
And finally, I would also like to add that my own diagnosis came about as a result of a TV show on RTE back in 2018 called ‘Living with Lyme’, so I personally know the power and reach of the medium of film. My hope for this project would also be to help someone else out there, in the throws of it all, see themselves in Jenny and find the courage to move forward in whatever way is right for them, and know they are not alone.
Your support to help us tell Jenny's story and open up a conversation around this topic would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your time.
