Warrior's Corner Battle for the Bullpen
Donation protected
Boxing has been a major part of my life since college. Most of you who know me, know that well enough. I fought competitively at Notre Dame and fell in love with brutal competitiveness of the sport. Further, I recognized the mental strength, focus, and courage that the sport instilled in me, values that can be applied to every facet of life.
After graduating from Notre Dame and commissioning into the Navy, my competitive boxing career ended, but I found myself even more connected to the sport. I began coaching fellow sailors and active duty service-men, not to prepare them for competition, but to help cultivate the empowering values that accompany the mindset a fighter. Whether we were training in a gym, on a pier in Pearl Harbor, or deep below the ocean in the engine room of a nuclear attack submarine, these sessions helped the men and women I worked with grow into confident and capable individuals.
Upon returning to D.C. in January of 2022, I wanted to continue to use the sport of boxing to empower individuals, especially those who have served our country. I have since developed adaptive boxing programs for the Wounded Warrior Project and I regularly coach adaptive boxing programs at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for service-disabled veterans.
The demand for such programs is overwhelming, but the current funding and infrastructure in place cannot support the demand. I discovered that at Walter Reed alone, there is a nearly 200-person waiting list to participate in such programs. These programs are incredible opportunities for service-disabled veterans to recover and grow both physically and mentally, yet these programs don't have the necessary scale to support the overwhelming demand.
This is where Warrior's Corner comes in...
Tyler Dale and I founded Warrior's Corner because we believe in the transformative power of boxing. I have seen firsthand how much confidence and resilience the sport can instill in an individual, whether they are fighting their way back from physical or mental injuries or just trying to become a better version of themselves. Warrior's Corner is dedicated to ensuring adaptive boxing programs are available to the men and women who have sacrificed so much for the security and freedom of our country. We are dedicated to giving back to these warriors and supporting them in their own fight for recovery and growth.
I am asking you to join our fight and help our cause. The money we are raising in this fundraiser will go directly to helping service-disabled veterans and building a sustainable program that can continue to support them and their families. Please be assured that every dollar donated will be put to work in a way that maximizes the positive impact on the lives of those who have made sacrifices for our country.
Warrior's Corner is now a legally incorporated entity, awaiting 501c3 status. This means your donations are tax-deductible, in anticipation of our 501c3 approval. Every contribution, large or small, brings us closer to serving more veterans in need.
Thank you for considering this cause and for standing with us in this fight to empower our nation's heroes. We hope to see you May 18th at the Bullpen!!
