Warriors for Mindi

Mindi and Danny Chaffin – if you have attended church with an active youth group, you have heard these names. Danny served as youth pastor at several local Baptist churches, in a college ministry, and as pastor at Eastgate Fellowships. At our church's youth group, it was a standing joke that you got “two for the price of one” because Mindi put in almost as many hours while she worked beside him! They have both touched the lives of too many to count, especially young people. They are two of the most selfless people I know. And now they need our help!
A couple of weeks ago Mindi went to the doctor for treatment for a cold. After some other testing, it was discovered she has a very large ovarian tumor. She has seen a doctor in Plano who believes it is more than likely cancer. Surgery must take place right away so she is scheduled for December 11. The doctor will be able to give a more accurate diagnosis and treatment plan once surgery has taken place. As of now, the plan is surgery then chemo. Her surgery has a 6-8 week recovery period (all who know Mindi know that it will be hard to keep her down for very long).
They do not have insurance at this time and, even though the doctor is reducing his normal fees, it will still be very expensive and there are so many other needs that will arise—hospital, anesthesiologist, labs, chemo treatments, gas, hotel rooms and meals for family, lost wages for both, etc. If your life or the lives of your children/grandchildren have been touched by this amazing couple and you have the means to do so, please help us to help them!! If you cannot contribute financially, please keep them in your prayers through this difficult journey. Yes, the tumor is big but we know our God is bigger!!! God has already provided in so many ways and Mindi and Danny are very optimistic.
